Trans Survivors Zine: Refuge – Teens and Youth
Introductory
Trans Communities Trans and nonbinary youth are living through a time of rising turmoil, and have often been the most visible in discussions restricting the rights of trans and nonbinary folks. At the same time, trans and nonbinary people of color, immigrants, and refugees are at increased risk of violence and deportation. These issues are deeply interconnected. “Refuge” emerged as a theme in the submissions we received. Trans and nonbinary youth finding comfort and solace in relationships; seeking quiet moments of relief from the storm outside; building systems of support within refugee camps and communities. These pieces reflect the isolation so many young people feel, along with the warmth of connection.
