Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth is Violence Prevention (White Paper)
In partnership with the National Resource Center for Reaching Victims, FORGE created a set of resources for victim service providers on trans/LGBTQ+ youth and violence prevention.
It’s not just LGBTQ adults who experience higher-than-typical rates of violence; the problem actually begins when they are children. This white paper explains how and why LGBTQ children and youth are experiencing more violence and trauma, and how those experiences tend to lead to even more violence and trauma down the road. Most importantly, it explains how this trajectory can be disrupted, even by neighbors and other bystanders.
