Staff introduction: Shelley Gregory

Milwaukee, WI – To increase FORGE’s capacity to provide services and supports to Wisconsin’s transgender and non-binary communities, FORGE is pleased to announce the addition of Shelley Gregory to our staff.

Gregory (pronouns: any or they/them/theirs) will fill the newly created position of Strategic Project Coordinator. Working in partnership with Ashley Altadonna, Trans Community Specialist, Gregory’s initial responsibilities include expanding FORGE’s local training opportunities for businesses and therapists. Gregory and Altadonna will also produce a Trans in Wisconsin Guide designed to provide advice and referrals to members of the trans/non-binary community, family and loved ones, and service providers. Gregory will also strengthen FORGE’s capacity to respond to sexual harassment issues under our Time’s Up! outreach grant.

“I am extremely excited to have Shelley on board as the newest part of our team,” said FORGE’s Executive Director, michael munson. “I have been impressed with Shelley’s skilled community engagement, attention to detail, organizational acumen and strategic oversight, as well as their ability to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is needed to serve our community.”

Gregory said, of their new position: “Ours is a richly diverse community that isn’t easily defined by traditional measures, but we in the community know that transgender and non-binary folx across Wisconsin, and their loved ones and service providers, like schools or hospitals, are often eager and sometimes desperate to find safe and appropriate resources or support, even to meet basic human needs like health care. I’m eager to meet and work with even more of the capable folx already striving to increase access across the state, and I look forward to expanding FORGE’s capacity to help support and serve our community right here in Wisconsin.”

Gregory holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and previously was a civil rights lawyer practicing labor and employment law in San Francisco for a dozen years. Gregory most recently served for two years in the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center’s first position dedicated to local transgender and non-binary communities.
