Transgender Survivors: Enhancing Culturally Responsive Services (WCASA/WCADV)

A brief overview of general transgender and gender non-conforming concepts will lay the groundwork for a fast-paced, interactive discussion about barriers trans* survivors of intimate partner violence, dating violence, and related forms of victimization face. Data-driven content will increase understanding of the systemic barriers and specific challenges transgender/gender non-conforming survivors experience. Practical examples, directly from trans* survivors’ lives, will highlight how and where service providers and agencies can construct culturally responsive policies, procedures, and practices to better serve this highly victimized and underserved population. Multiple handouts and resources will be included giving more detailed information and opportunities for additional free training.
