Pronouns are the words we use to describe people when we don’t use their name (for example, we and their are pronouns). People use pronouns all the time. The most common third-person pronouns are he, she, and they. Using the correct pronouns for people is an important part of how we show that we respect the person. This tipsheet covers the pronoun basics for medical advocacy.
