Navigating Therapeutic Options for Healing from Sexual Assault

June 6, 2015 @ 8:45 am - 10:05 am

More than half of trans people are sexual assault survivors. Healing is possible. Navigating traditional therapeutic services can be daunting. Exploring non-traditional techniques can be scary. Trans survivors may have concerns about disclosing survivorship to providers who may hold the keys to transition-related services like hormones and surgery. Conversely, trans survivors and loved ones may justifiably worry that providers skilled in working with survivors may not be trans-informed. This workshop will help survivors and loved ones learn about available healing options and gain practical strategies to ensure the best possible outcome. Participants will leave with more knowledge about traditional, non-traditional and self-help options to support healing from sexual assault, as well as resources and tools to help make the best healing choices.
