Day 2 – Improve health care availability for trans people

#30DaysOfAction

.

Are you or someone you know trans and uninsured? Did you know that the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or Obamacare) still exists, despite many Republican efforts to repeal it? Not only that, but people can enroll in insurance until December 15. To enroll go to https://www.healthcare.gov/ Chances are good that you will qualify for subsidies to help you pay for the insurance, and the program includes many protections for trans and non-binary individuals.  You can learn more about those at https://out2enroll.org/category/faqs/transgender/

You can also help ensure trans people have access to health care by voting in the 2018 midterms for Representatives and Senators who support Obamacare.  Note that in the last days before the 2018 midterms, a number of Congressional candidates have started saying they support protecting people with pre-existing conditions, even though they have actually voted (usually more than once) to repeal Obamacare. Before you vote for them, check out whether your elected officials voted for you: https://www.healthreformvotes.org/.
